The Best Thing We’ve Read All Day (PM Edition)

Most Catholics inside and outside the church are aware of the bad preaching in Catholic churches, and I’m very forgiving when someone is dull or seemingly unprepared, but I’m not as forgiving when it comes to downright inaccuracy and poor exegesis.

There could be a list made of the most commonly misused and misunderstood passages of Scripture, and two of them would be found in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). Fittingly, they relate to one another, which highlights a general distortion and loss of what justice, mercy and judgment means in our time.

  1. Why not give sources for your definitions? How do we know you are accurate if you do not provide sources?

    1. I’m not sure if I know what you’re asking: I think you take issue with the author – but I just “linked” to the post, so I think you might direct your inquiry to the author himself through his blog.
